In this workshop, students will participate in a STEM activity focused on Riverfront Park's wildlife, and enjoy a guided painting class. 🎨
Families may sign-up more than one child but please sign them up separately so we can make sure they each get their own science kit.
One kit per student.
This program is free but space is limited.
Meet us on the lawn near the entrance to the LA River bike path.
Please make sure children are accompanied by an adult.
Don't forget to register beforehand as there will not be registration at the event.
We've got a waitlist available in case the workshop fills up.

WATER MUSEUM FIELD TRIP
Join us for a free tour of the WRD Albert Robles Center for Water Recycling and Environmental Learning (ARC) on January 21st.
Shuttle bus transportation to the facility will depart promptly at 11:00 am.
Please arrive by 10:45 to check in. We will meet near the tennis courts at Hollydale Regional Park in the City of South Gate.

Join us for a guided nature walk and painting workshop to learn about the native plants and animals in Hollydale Regional Park.
Enrollment is free to students in the following cities: SouthGate-Maywood-BellGardens-Lynwood-Downey-Paramount-Compton-Long Beach.

River Rangers K-5 Workshops
Join us at Treasure Island Park every Thursday from April 21st to May 12th for our K-5 River Ranger Environmental Education Workshops.
Workshops begin at 5:00 pm and end at 5:30 pm. Each Thursday will focus on a different part of local wildlife.

Every participating child will receive a free copy of our new “Adventures of Roxanna and the LA River: Treasure Island Park” coloring book.
Attendance at all four workshops is encourage but not required. Sign-up is not required but helps us ensure we will have enough supplies and coloring books for all participants. Thank you!
Important notes:
-An adult must remain at the park with the child during the workshop.
-There are no restrooms or water fountains at this park. Workshops are only 30 minutes to help with this.

K-5 Environmental Education Teacher/Parent Workshop
Come learn about our local environmental education lessons recently developed based on wildlife at Treasure Island Park in Downey. We will be discussing community based environmental education, our local river, the River Ranger program, and new lesson plans that you can use with your students/children.

Environmental Science Camp: Our Watershed (Virtual)

Join our educators for three mornings of fun science projects around our local watershed! Each participating K-5 student will receive their own bag of science materials they will need to complete each project with their RIA educator. This program is free but space is limited to 30 students.
Families may sign-up more than one child but please sign them up separately so we can make sure they each get their own science bag!
Virtual Camp Class Dates (Classes will be via Zoom)

**We ask that participating students attend all three morning sessions.
We will deliver each students science bag to the address you use below on Friday 11/20 or Saturday 11/21. It will contactless delivery and will be left behind your door.
Program is open to students who live in the following cities: Lynwood, South Gate, Cudahy, Paramount, Bell, Bell Gardens, Maywood, Huntington Park, Downey, Long Beach.

Meet the Scientist
Is your child interested in science? Have they wondered what different scientists actually do?
Sign up for our Meet the Scientist virtual event to have your child meet Silvia González, Senior Researcher at UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation!
Silvia is a social scientist at UCLA. Her research focuses on environmental equity, neighborhood change, and racial inequality.
During the event Silvia will be discussing her work and path to becoming a social scientist. After she presents, there will be time for children to ask her questions. While River in Action’s programs are typically for K-5 students, older students are welcome to join this event!
